Services team
Led by the Director or Services, the Bar Council Services team is primarily responsible for the effective provision of both paid and free of charge services to the profession.
The team’s portfolio includes services designed to:
- support barristers and chambers professionals in the management of day-to-day practice (such as the ID Card Scheme and Direct Access Portal)
- assist in the recruitment of new pupil barristers and tenants (such as Pupillage Gateway and Immigration Support)
- Strengthen the Bar Council with a view to ensuring the continued representation of the profession (such as the Bar Representation Fee)

Key contacts
Anna Pinch, Director of Services
Anna joined the Bar Council in November 2024. Prior to this, she spent ten years working for CFA Society UK, a membership body representing 12,000 investment professionals. As Director of Customer Experience, she led on the strategy, implementation, and management of every stage of the member journey. Prior to working at CFA Society UK, Anna worked at another membership body, ICAEW (the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales).
Earlier in her career, Anna spent ten years working as an Events Manager, delivering commercial business to business event portfolios both in the UK and globally.
At the Bar Council, as the Director of Services, she is responsible for the leadership of our Services and Training and Events Teams. As a member of our Senior Management Team, she contributes to the overall strategic direction and culture of our organisation.
Michelle Moxon, Head of Services
Michelle joined the Bar Council in March 2013 and following the closure of Barco, was promoted to the role of Services Manager in 2019. Working closely with the Director of Services, she leads the day-to-day management of the existing services and products offered to the Bar, including those that form part of the Bar Representation Fee benefits.
Michelle has specific responsibility for the Bar Council’s business partnership portfolio, establishing and maintaining key relationships with new and existing commercial partners and other third-party suppliers, and the delivery of both the Immigration Support Scheme and the Pupillage Gateway. Prior to joining the Bar Council, Michelle spent 14 years working at Bank of Ireland.
Helen Plumley, Senior Services Coordinator
Helen joined the Bar Council in April 2023 as Senior Services Coordinator. Her focus is supporting her service administrators who deal with a wider range of servicing for barristers and chambers. This includes Pupillage Gateway, HMCTS and Direct Access Portal.
Prior to joining, she worked for Barclays Bank for 29 years in various customer service roles , of which one was running a successful solicitors team. After leaving the bank, she worked in a finance office in her son’s school for 8 years.
Services Coordinator
The role of Services Coordinator consists of supporting the team in the delivery of the services portfolio. They are the first point of contact for the services team and report to the Senior Services Coordinator then the Head of services. The basis of the role includes administration, portfolio management and project support.
The Services Coordinator is essential in ensuring the daily delivery of the services offered to Bar Council members, affiliated organisations, associations, and other relevant individuals. The Services Coordinator is also expected to participate in developing new services for the Bar and assist the Senior Services Officer with tasks such as market research, data gathering, and product testing. Working closely with their counterparts in the Services Team, the Services Coordinator ensures the smooth operational delivery of the entire services portfolio, including the Pupillage Gateway recruitment portal and the Bar Representation Fee payment and rewards systems. Additionally, the Services Coordinator will participate in meetings with key stakeholders, as well as drafting meeting minutes and contributing to the production of relevant reports.
Harjit Chana, Services Coordinator
Harjit joined the Bar Council in April 2024 as a Services Coordinator. In this role, Harjit supports barristers and chambers professionals in their daily practice, by administering services such as the Bar Representative Fee, HMCTS user scheme and the Direct Access Portal.
Before joining the Bar Council, Harjit worked in the investment banking sector for seven years in various firms, which involved reducing operational risk and increasing customer confidence.
